The Final Touches

Conceptualisation
Conceptualisation is the first step in the process of designing an interior that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional.  By analysing the available space and the people who will be using it, MBS Architectural can help architects and interior designers to come up with creative ideas to make the most of the space. From aesthetics to finishes, acoustics to fire performance, we’ve got you covered.

Workshopping
Workshopping is an integral part of any successful interior design process. In essence, it involves bringing stakeholders together to brainstorm ideas and discuss potential design solutions. MBS Architectural believes in a collaborative process that allows designers to gain insight into the users' needs and preferences, whilst taking into consideration the logistics of the space, budget and materiality.

Hand Samples
Product samples, often referred to as ‘hand samples’ are an important part of the interior design stage of a project. They provide the design team with a tangible representation of the materials they are considering, enabling them to confidently make decisions on materiality, finish and size.  We are able to provide decision makers with a host of samples to help them make more informed decisions when it comes to selecting the right materials for their project.

CAD Drawings
Product CAD drawings are a vital tool for architects. They allow designers to accurately and quickly create detailed two or three-dimensional representation of the product or system they are proposing to specify.  Product CAD drawings provide architects and interior designers with a clear and concise view of the entire product and its components. This helps to ensure that all parts are correctly specified and the design is consistent throughout.

Shop Drawings
Shop drawings are essential, as they provide a detailed and accurate representation of the final product. Shop drawings are usually provided by the contractor, supported by our design and technical team.  In basic terms, these drawings show dimensions, materials and construction methods of the product or system. Shop drawings provide architects and interior designers with a comprehensive view of the final product and ensure that all components of the project are correctly specified.

35 Collins Street

The brief to us was simple, yet expansive. Large format aluminium panels, organic anodised finishes, integrated service troughs and the highest level of acoustic performance achievable. Tick, tick, tick & tick. We worked closely with Grimshaw’s over a 2-year period, assisting with design development, specification advice as well as providing 3D printed models of certain componentry, including the integrated service troughs, to ensure other trades could be confident with their procurement processes....

Melbourne Airport T2 Arrivals

Light and space were lacking in the old T2 Arrivals Hall, something incoming travellers would come to expect when arriving in Australia. So light and space were what Grimshaw’s set out to create when designing the new refurbishment. Limited in height by the departure’s road above, the architect sought to brighten the area with full height glazing and steeply raked ceiling planes (pardon the pun). Integration of services and exceptional acoustic absorption were the highest of high priorities. A custom 200mm wide aluminium service trough was...
