Apollo aluminium battens are available in a range of standard profiles, defined by depth and width.
These profiles can be used individually or combined to create layered, dimensional wall designs.
Custom profiles are also available, subject to project requirements, allowing further refinement where a unique architectural expression is required.
Yes! A range of custom profiles are possible, subject to minimum order quantities and additional lead time.
If your design requires a profile outside the standard range, our team can work with you to develop a custom solution.
Batten spacing plays a critical role in how a wall is perceived. It influences not only the visual density of the design but also the overall material efficiency. With the Apollo+ system, spacing can be set to exact project requirements, allowing designers to fine-tune the balance between openness and solidity. This level of control ensures the wall performs visually while remaining aligned with project budgets.

Beyond aesthetics, spacing also shapes how light, shadow, and depth are experienced across a wall surface. Wider gaps create a lighter, more open expression, allowing glimpses of the substrate behind and introducing a sense of rhythm and permeability.
Tighter spacing, by contrast, delivers a more solid, monolithic appearance, increasing visual weight and uniformity. Finding the right balance is key. By carefully considering proportion, viewing angles, and how the batten system interfaces with adjacent elements, designers can achieve a wall feature that feels resolved, materially efficient, and fully integrated within the broader architectural language.
Notes to consider when assessing batten gaps

A widely used rule is to begin with a gap equal to two thirds of the batten depth. For example, a 60mm deep batten pairs well with a 40mm gap. This proportion allows the profile to read clearly while avoiding unnecessary material use.Why this works comes down to how walls are experienced. Battened walls are rarely viewed straight on; they are typically seen obliquely as people move through a space.
At these angles, the two-thirds ratio ensures a meaningful portion of the batten depth remains visible, reinforcing texture, shadow and rhythm. If the gap is too tight, much of that depth is visually lost, meaning material is used without contributing to the overall effect. In these instances, reducing the batten size can often achieve a similar visual outcome with a more efficient use of material.
For example, if you are working with a 90 mm batten gap but need to accommodate 100mm wide linear lighting or integrated wall elements, increasing the spacing to 100 mm allows those services to sit cleanly within the gap. This results in a more resolved outcome, avoiding awkward terminations where battens would otherwise need to stop and start around fixtures.
Batten spacing can extend significantly depending on design intent, however for wider gaps exceeding 200mm, it is worth considering a transition from a track-based system to a direct fix approach. This ensures the fixing system remains fully concealed, preventing vertical tracks from becoming visible within larger openings and maintaining a clean, uninterrupted wall surface.
This significantly reduces on-site set-out, improves installation accuracy, and streamlines the construction process. The result is a faster, more efficient install with consistent spacing and reduced labour costs.
Apollo Aluminium Battens are supplied at 6000mm as standard. Lengths can be cut down to a specific size if required; however, additional charges may apply.

Aluminum is an excellent material as it offers an extensive range of finishing options. These include solid powdercoats, anodising and applying a timber effect powdercoat to achieve a natural timber look with an Aluminum Batten.
We have full access to both the Interpon and Dulux powder coat ranges. Contact our team to explore these range of colour options.

The system has been intentionally streamlined to minimise complexity while maintaining performance and flexibility.
⦿ Wall track with pre-indexed batten clips
⦿ Aluminium battens in nominated profiles and finishes
⦿ Batten joiners for consistent alignment
⦿ Aluminium end caps to conceal cut ends of battens, in a matching finish
Each element is designed to work together seamlessly, reducing installation time and ensuring a clean, consistent outcome.
The Apollo wall track is supplied with batten clips pre-indexed at the specified centers for the project, meaning the majority of installation set-out work has been completed prior to the material arriving on-site.
Once the Aluminum Battens are clipped into the wall track, the batten clips become fully concealed.

Internal keyways within each Apollo aluminium batten allow for precision friction-fit joiners, ensuring consistent alignment across every profile.
Joiners are also available in a folded 90-degree option, enabling clean and accurate alignment of mitred battens.

Where batten ends are exposed, optional end caps can be specified to achieve a clean, resolved finish.
Supplied powder coated to match the selected batten finish, they provide a seamless visual outcome.
Installation is straightforward, using a simple push-fit connection.

The Apollo+ Concealed Clip Batten system for walls is designed to deliver a clean, efficient installation while maintaining precise alignment and a refined architectural outcome.
Battens clip directly into pre-indexed wall tracks, which are fixed to the substrate, creating a fully concealed fixing system and a consistent linear expression across the wall surface.
Wall tracks are typically installed at set centres to suit project requirements, with batten clips pre-positioned to eliminate the need for complex on-site set-out. This ensures accurate spacing, faster installation, and a high level of finish.

Integration with adjacent elements such as lighting, joinery, and services can be carefully resolved within the batten layout, maintaining visual continuity without disrupting the design intent. The result is a streamlined wall system that balances performance, efficiency, and a clean, uninterrupted architectural language.
The Apollo+ Concealed Clip Batten system is designed for a clean, efficient ceiling installation that prioritises both precision and buildability.

Apollo+ Battens for wall applications are engineered around a concealed clip system that delivers a clean, uninterrupted finish across vertical surfaces.
The system utilises a purpose-designed wall track, fixed directly to the substrate, with integrated channels to receive pre-positioned batten clips. This creates a consistent and reliable framework for installation while keeping all fixings fully concealed.
With clips pre-indexed to project-specific centres, the system removes the need for extensive on-site set-out, ensuring accurate alignment and efficient installation. Fixings to suit the wall substrate are to be supplied separately.
For curved walls, the Apollo wall track is supplied with rear notching, allowing it to flex and conform seamlessly to the curvature of your prepared substrate.
For these curved wall applications, it's recommended that screw fixing centers are @ 300mm. These may be required more frequently at righter radii.

Where enhanced acoustic performance is required, a semi-rigid 7mm black acoustic backing can be integrated into the Apollo batten system.
Manufactured from polyester and compliant with Group 1 fire ratings, this backing provides effective sound absorption while maintaining a clean wall aesthetic. Installed directly against a hard surface, the system achieves an NRC of 0.25, increasing to approximately 0.50 with the inclusion of a 25mm air cavity.
Apollo tracks are designed with integrated 7mm channels, allowing the acoustic backing to slot neatly into place between rails. Panels are pre-cut to suit standard track centres, ensuring fast, accurate installation, while remaining flexible enough for on-site adjustments where required.
For projects demanding higher acoustic performance, additional acoustic batts can be installed behind the system, increasing performance up to an NRC of 1.0.
Caring for your Apollo Aluminium Batten product correctly should greatly enhance its longevity. Below are our recommendations for extending the life of your Aluminium system.

A simple regular clean will minimise the degradation of your finish from exposure to elements such as dirt and grime, which can build-up over time and be detrimental to your finish.
The frequency of a cleaning regiment is dependent on a number of factors (such as environment and exposure). Our recommendation is that the Aluminium Batten system be cleaned once every twelve (12) months and a record of this cleaning is kept.
Optimise Performance & Cleaning

For best performance, we recommend a complete clean of the installed system once all construction works have been completed. This will ensure that any construction materials (such as dirt, plaster, paint, concrete dust etc.) have been removed in a timely manner.
A clean involves using a combination of warm water and a non-abrasive pH neutral detergent solution. All surfaces should be cleaned using a soft cloth, sponge, or a soft natural bristle brush. Ensure material is non-abrasive and no scrubbing is performed, as this may damage the finish on your Aluminium product.
Please look out for the following signs and if present, increase the frequency of your cleaning regiment:
⦿ Signs of weathering (loss of gloss)
⦿ Chalking
⦿ Slight changes to the colour of your finish
Strong solvents (thinners or solutions containing chlorinated hydrocarbons, esters or ketones) should not be used during cleaning. If unsure, we recommend testing your cleaning agent on a small, non-visible portion of the Aluminum product and leaving for 24hours to see if there has been any visible change to the finish on your Aluminum product.
