Set high within Marvel Stadium, the Skyline Room presents itself as a space defined by atmosphere, outlook and precision. Recently reimagined into a premium hospitality venue, it balances expansive city views with a carefully curated interior, creating an environment that feels both elevated and immersive. Designed by Grimshaw and delivered by John Holland with Arc Plastering, the project brings together material richness and spatial clarity to establish one of Melbourne’s most distinctive event settings.
The defining gesture lies overhead. A bespoke curved metal raft ceiling introduces a sculptural layer that frames the room while reinforcing its sense of occasion. Fabricated from 3 millimetre aluminium and anodised in Champagne Gold, the ceiling carries a subtle lustre that shifts with light, enhancing the surrounding palette without overpowering it. The finish is refined and controlled, contributing to an atmosphere that feels considered and cohesive.
Form plays an equally important role. The primary raft sections are shaped into a U profile, creating a series of suspended elements that float within the volume of the space. These forms are carefully aligned, with discreet connectors ensuring precision at every junction, allowing the ceiling to read as a continuous composition rather than a collection of parts. The result is a clean, uninterrupted plane that reinforces the architectural intent.
