Fit-Out

Working alongside Hot Black, McCormack, and Eco Building Projects, we were engaged to deliver a ceiling solution that went beyond the ordinary. The design features Expanded Rhombus Shape lay-in mesh tiles set within a 1200 x 600 tee bar 24mm exposed grid, providing a clean and structured ceiling framework. Finished in Dulux Electro Burnished Copper Flat (9068185K), the ceiling introduces warmth and texture, complementing the sophisticated interior palette developed by the design team.

While the mesh ceiling itself is intentionally straightforward, the innovation came from rethinking the perimeter detail. Hot Black challenged us to transform the transition between plasterboard and mesh from a purely functional element into a true feature of the space. This approach elevated a standard detail into a design highlight.

The result is a fabricated and pre-formed perimeter upstand, precisely engineered to create a clean, continuous edge. Within this trim sits a recessed channel designed to house integrated lighting, creating a subtle, indirect glow that enhances both the ceiling and the overall atmosphere of the space. This detailing demanded close coordination between all parties to ensure accuracy from concept through to installation, demonstrating the value of collaboration and careful planning.

This project shows how even the smallest elements of a fit-out can have a big impact on how a space feels. When ceiling trims are designed with intent, they can shape the experience of those who use the space - not by being noticed, but by seamlessly blending into the environment and supporting the architectural vision.
