Bistro C

Hospitality

Bistro C has always been defined by its setting — where the shoreline of Laguna Bay meets the rhythm of Noosa life — but this renovation was never about changing that identity. It was about refining it. Working alongside Chloe Jean Bank Interiors and delivered by GTO Building and Bask Constructions, the brief was clear: preserve the relaxed, textural charm that has made Bistro C an institution, while quietly elevating the way the space feels and performs.

In a venue where conversation, movement and atmosphere converge, acoustics become inseparable from the dining experience. The challenge was to introduce meaningful sound control without disrupting the natural, beachside aesthetic that defines the space.

The solution came through the careful integration of Heradesign Superfine wood wool panels, selected in a natural finish to sit comfortably within the existing material palette. Rather than feeling applied, the panels read as part of the architecture — their organic texture reinforcing the layered, tactile quality of the interior.

Installed across the 100m² space, the 25mm panels provide an NRC of 0.70, absorbing the ambient noise of a busy restaurant and reshaping how the space is experienced. The difference is subtle but immediate.

Bistro C

Set against the backdrop of Laguna Bay, Bistro C offers more than a dining experience — it delivers a carefully tuned environment where atmosphere, comfort and sensory balance come together. The space retains its signature coastal ease while quietly enhancing how it sounds and feels, creating a setting where conversation flows effortlessly and the energy of the room remains composed. Through thoughtful material integration and a clear design vision, the interior achieves a sense of calm within activity, allowing guests to fully engage with both the setting and each other. It is a subtle evolution of an already iconic venue, where performance is felt rather than seen.

Conversations become clearer, the atmosphere softens, and the energy of the room feels balanced rather than overwhelming. It is an intervention that works quietly, allowing the focus to remain on the food, the company, and the setting beyond.

What sets this project apart is the restraint in how performance is delivered. There is no visual disruption, no sense of compromise. The acoustic solution enhances rather than competes, ensuring that every surface continues to contribute to the overall narrative.

As Chloe Banks noted, the panels align seamlessly with the vision — not just improving sound, but reinforcing the relaxed, textural identity that defines Bistro C.

Photographed by Amy Hemmings, the finished space captures this balance with clarity. Light, material and sound are brought into alignment, creating an environment that feels considered without losing its ease. Bistro C remains what it has always been — a destination — but now with an added layer of comfort that elevates the experience from memorable to enduring.
