The Volvo showroom in Essendon is conceived as more than a place of display. It is an environment designed to slow the pace, to invite exploration, and to frame the experience of the vehicle within a setting that feels refined, calm and intentional. Designed by Era Architects and delivered by Mantec Projects with Modular Linings, the fit-out balances precision with warmth, creating a space that reflects the understated sophistication of the Volvo brand.

From the moment of entry, the atmosphere is carefully controlled. Light, material and proportion work together to establish a sense of ease, allowing visitors to engage with the space in a more considered way. The ceiling plays a central role in shaping this experience, introducing a strong linear language that guides movement while maintaining a sense of cohesion throughout the showroom.

Apollo Aluminium Battens form the backbone of this expression. Sized at 50 by 25 millimetres and finished in a European Spruce tone, they bring a natural warmth that contrasts gently with the polished surfaces and clean lines of the vehicles below. The battens are arranged with precision, creating a rhythm overhead that feels both structured and effortless, reinforcing the architectural clarity of the space.

This linear feature does more than provide visual interest. It establishes a consistent backdrop that allows the vehicles to remain the focal point, while subtly enhancing the overall spatial quality. The timber-look finish introduces a softness that tempers the more technical elements of the showroom, creating an environment that feels welcoming rather than transactional.
