Cheltenham Quarter

Commercial

At Cheltenham Quarter, materiality becomes the quiet driver of experience, shaping how each space is perceived, navigated and ultimately remembered. This is a project where warmth and precision are not opposing ideas, but complementary forces brought together through a carefully resolved architectural language.

Working in close collaboration with JMA Architects and LSR Construction, we delivered a layered combination of timber lining and aluminium batten systems that move seamlessly from circulation zones into focused workspaces and meeting environments. The intent was not to create moments in isolation, but to establish a consistent rhythm that could carry the project from one space to the next with clarity and restraint.

The staircase forms the heart of this narrative. Lined in Tasmanian Oak Flute Timber, finished in a clear coat and spanning approximately 350 square metres, it transforms a transitional element into a defining architectural gesture. The vertical fluting introduces depth and cadence, while the natural grain of the timber softens the surrounding palette. It is a space that invites movement, yet encourages pause, demonstrating how texture and tone can elevate even the most functional parts of a building.

Beyond this, the language shifts with subtle intent. Within the office and boardroom areas, the Apollo Aluminium Timber Look Click In Batten System establishes a refined ceiling plane across approximately 80 square metres. Sized at 150 by 50 millimetres in Blonde Oak, the system delivers crisp alignment and a seamless finish, balancing visual simplicity with the practical demands of acoustic performance and ongoing accessibility. It reads as effortless, but is underpinned by a highly considered construction logic.

Cheltenham Quarter

Cheltenham Quarter explores how a restrained material palette can unify diverse spaces into a coherent architectural experience. Through the interplay of natural timber and precision aluminium systems, the project demonstrates how consistency in detail, proportion and finish can guide movement, enhance atmosphere and elevate everyday environments without relying on overt gestures.

This linear expression continues through the introduction of Apollo Aluminium Two Piece Timber Effect Battens, measuring 100 by 50 millimetres and extending to approximately 700 linear metres. Used as privacy screens and framing elements, they create moments of separation without disconnecting the overall space. Their proportions and finish maintain continuity, ensuring that each intervention feels like part of a broader architectural language rather than an isolated detail.

Additional layering is achieved through Apollo Aluminium Timber Screens in a 50 by 50 millimetre profile, adding further depth where required. Across all elements, the palette remains disciplined. Tasmanian Oak and Blonde Oak sit in dialogue with one another, reinforcing a balance between natural warmth and engineered precision. The result is a cohesive environment that feels both calm and deliberate. It is a project defined not by a single feature, but by the consistency of its thinking, where every material choice and detail contributes to a unified spatial experience.
