As part of the new development for Collingwood Park Secondary School, MBS Architectural partnered with Lifestyle Interiors to supply and support the specification of a high-performance ceiling system across 6,000m² of internal learning spaces. The project required a solution that balanced functionality, acoustic control, and durability — core requirements for modern educational design.
Acoustic Design in Education
Educational environments demand high acoustic performance to ensure speech intelligibility and reduce background noise, which directly impacts learning outcomes. Classrooms, libraries, and multipurpose spaces at Collingwood Park were all designed with this principle in mind.
To meet these requirements, MBS Architectural supplied mineral fibre acoustic tiles with a Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) of 0.70, a specification proven to enhance concentration, reduce vocal strain for educators, and improve student engagement.
