Senex (QLD)

Citibuild approached us with Architectus’ design render, confident in our ability to deliver on ambitious briefs following previous successful collaborations. Working closely with our manufacturing partner SAS International, we developed a solution that stayed faithful to the vision while addressing the practical challenges of construction and installation. Our approach centred on utilising the proprietary SAS System 600 Raft Ceiling as the foundation. We adapted it to incorporate pre-formed curved panels with hook-on connections, ensuring a secure and precise fit to the suspended ceiling framework. This not only achieved the sweeping arcs that defined the design but also allowed for efficient installation in a live environment.

To ensure the transition between different ceiling planes was seamless, we designed and manufactured bespoke bulkhead closure panels, carefully integrated so that curved sections flowed effortlessly into flat areas without visual interruption.

The result is a ceiling that feels dynamic and sculptural, echoing the industrial inspiration while working in harmony with the timber and stone finishes of the interior. The curved forms introduce rhythm and movement across the space, while subtle lighting enhances the geometry, creating depth and shadow. By bringing the original design render through the MBS sketch process and into a final solution, we were able to demonstrate the full arc of collaboration and technical craft.
